LILLY FORS
STYLIST AT TONI&GUY PARK STREET
As a person I don’t like to settle for second best, so when in 2009 I decided that hairdressing was the next step for me, there was only ever one way to go. TONI&GUY. It was a company that to me, represented everything I loved about the industry. Creativity. Passion and Drive.
To be able to work for a global company and travel anywhere in the world knowing that I will be good enough is an amazing feeling.
I was once told, and I will never forget this, “You can work as a hairdresser or you can have a career with TONI&GUY” – this to me says it all.
The attitude that we never stop learning no matter how much experience we have is great! I’ve never been in an environment where people are so encouraging and motivated.
From day one at TONI&GUY’s International School of Hairdressing, I’ve grown not just as a hairdresser but also as a person. TONI&GUY to me feels a little bit like home away from home. I know that I can go anywhere in the world and step in to one of the salons and feel welcome and as if I am part of a team.
When I look back at the two years I spent at the school and the 6 weeks of Vardering I went through, I sometimes have to pinch myself. I cannot believe how far I have come! From day one when I dropped my scissors in front of everyone in my class, to now be a fully qualified stylist working on the floor for TONI&GUY is an unbelievable feeling. It is amazing how much I have learnt and all the support that I have been lucky enough to receive along the way.
It has been two of the best years of my life and I feel extremely lucky knowing that it is just the beginning of a long and exciting journey with the company.
ALICE DEAN
TONI&GUY SCHOOL OF HAIRDRESSING CO-ORDINATOR
In September 2008 I came to Sydney for a holiday with the idea of studying here. After alot of research into the different colleges across Sydney, I came across the TONI&GUY School of Hairdressing. I came in to view the school and was delighted at what I saw. Friendly faces, small classes focusing on more individual attention and situated in a great location – the heart of Paddington.
I commenced my Cert III class in January 2009, I learn’t everything you need to know about hairdressing, from basic communication, right through to advanced colour work. After successfully completing my Cert III, I commenced my Certificate IV. My highlight in this 6 month course was session styling, learning all the fundamentals for creating Up-styles and Avant-Guard looks. The intimate classes gave me more one on one time with the highly qualified teachers, who are all affiliated with TONI&GUY Australia. My class of 8 successfully completed the course in June 2010. I then went on to complete a Diploma in Hairdressing Salon management, I thoroughly enjoyed this course and was surprised at myself when I realised I enjoyed the business side of things too. I achieved top student of the year for the Diploma in Hairdressing Salon Management course. After completing my two years at the TONI&GUY School of Hairdressing I knew that I wanted to be part of the TONI&GUY team. Having highly skilled and also very empathetic teachers motivated me to stay with TONI&GUY, so in January 2011 I applied for the position as the TONI&GUY School of Hairdressing receptionist. I have now been part of the team since February 2011and am now the School Coordinator. I work closely with and assist Angie Rogers who is the head of the School and previous owner of two T&G salons. All my hard work and great training and learning the art of customer service and salon management has paid off for working in this position.
In my time of studding and working here I have seen many students and also friends move onto working with some of our leading TONI&GUY salons across Australia.
I highly recommend anyone of any age and with a passion for hair and customer service to study with the TONI&GUY School of hairdressing.
